“Ya know. That’s kind of cool.”
That was the unanimous reaction—following an equally unanimous long, gape-jawed pause—to the latest funky women's cycling concoction to cross my desk from the ever fashion-forward, sometimes over-the-top Italian clothing manufacturer Nalini. The Tibi Lady Suit Jersey (with panties!) is essentially a sleek and sexy cycling onesie—like a bodysuit for riding. You pull it on, zip it up, and slip on your favorite skirt, shorts, or pants. The panties are outfitted with a barely there chamois, which is plenty of protection for even an all-day cruise about town. Feeling like a more aggressive ride? This little number is up for anything. I even raced Junkyard CX in it, which, as the name implies, is a cyclocross race in a junkyard. The Tibi stayed put and was more comfortable than my usual team kit (though as with any skinsuit, taking a nature break is a bit of a pain).
I particularly loved all the stylish yet functional details like the ergonomic silver zipper pulls and the hidden side stash pocket. The pops of color, including a polka dotted inner collar and hot pink detailing make it a truly memorable piece. Sure, it’s a splurge at $189. But you can be sure you’ll stand out on every ride.
